第一回「友情の架け橋」コンサートとレセプションは2004年7月、日韓友情(日本民藝館と韓国との友好90周年)を記念して財団法人日本民藝館で開催。
皇太子殿下(ヴィオラ)、指揮者チョン・ミョンフン氏(ピアノ)、ミッシャ・マイスキー氏(チェロ)、荒井英治氏(ヴァイオリン)による室内楽演奏。演奏者達の友情から生まれた演奏会は、多くの方々の熱心な応援と支援によって実現しました。当日、日本と韓国を代表する文化、教育、経済等の有識者が招待されました。民間から発信された友情と平和のメッセージは衝撃的であり、出席者を感動と興奮で沸かせました。マスコミ、特に韓国における報道各社は「歴史を変えた」めでたい出来事として大きく報道されました。
The Friendship Bridge concerts started with the honorary chamber performance by HIH Crown Prince Naruhito (va), Mischa Maisky (vc), Myung Whun Chung (pf) and Eiji Arai (vn) in celebrating 90 years of friendship between the Japan Folk Crafts Museum and Korea, at the museum in Tokyo. The performance was organized in efforts to celebrate peace and strength of humanity, and to connect through music. The outstanding performance by HIH astounded the public and the media, making way for a renewed friendly interest in the cultures of both countries.

ご挨拶
このたび日本民藝館におきまして日韓友好特別記念音楽会「友情の架け橋」を開催する運びとなりました。
日本民藝館創設者、柳宗悦が民藝運動の立場から韓国と日本の架け橋となる活動を始める、一つの壺との出会いから90年経ちます。宗教哲学者であった宗悦が財団法人日本民藝館を1935年に創設して以来、用の美を表す展覧会、美と共に人と人の心の交流を目指した数々の催しを開催して参りました。
本日は日本と韓国の友情の絆をお祝いして、室内楽の夕べを開催させていただくことになりました。演奏家皆様のご理解と多くの方々のご協力と愛情に護られながらこのプログラムが実現に至りましたことを心からお礼申し上げます。
Greeting
We are proud to present a special musical evening, Friends Together: Music and Mingei, comes orating the friendship between Japan and Korea.
Soetsu Yanagi, founder of the museum, recognized the exceptional beauty and quality of Joseon craft through one porcelain vase 90 years ago. It inspired philosopher Yanagi’s well known efforts to bridge ties of friendship between two nations. Since his founding of the Museum in 1936, exhibitions presenting exceptional beauty “borne from the people” have been shown with complementing lectures and performances.
We are most honored to receive violist His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito and music friends to celebrate a truly international friendship. This evening of goodwill could not have materialized without their deep understanding and kind cooperation, as well as the many other people who wholeheartedly supported the cause. We hereby would like to express our deep-felt appreciation.
The basis of cultural exchange is the precious interaction between “people”. It is our sincere hope that this evening of good friends connecting through music, surrounded by beautiful words from Jose Dynasty., will touch the hearts of many people, go beyond all boundaries and show the way for the future.
